THE TWELTH ANNUAL WAREHOUSE SHOW AND OUR 'CELEBRATING
BLACK HISTORY MONTH' EXHIBITION ALSO 'NEW EXPLORATIONS IN CURVISM' BY
STEVE FIRKINS
Sat. January 25th, 2003 - March 8th, 2003
Opening Reception Saturday, from 6-9 PM
Flanders Contemporary Art is pleased to announce the
opening of new exhibitions this January 25th of 2003.In the main gallery
we are very pleased to present our Twelth Annual Warehouse Show.
It is one of the year's highlight shows, with hundreds of works on display
by the artists represented by Flanders Contemporary Art. Gallery visitors
will have the chance to view work by local, national and international
artists, in a wide spectrum of mediums and genres. Names like Dale
Chihuly, Joan Mitchell, and Andy Warhol will share
wall space with local favorites like Jeff Krueger, Sue Howe and Frank
Gaard. It's our once a year opportunity to show the many fine pieces
of art we have acquired over the last year. Rarely do gallery visitors
get to see an exhibit of this caliber outside of a museum. This rotating
exhibit will run through April 26th of 2003.
The
side gallery will be celebrating the work of historical and contemporary
African-American artists. Among them: Faith
Ringgold, Romare Bearden, Clementine Hunter, Sam Gilliam, Benny
Andrews and Richard Mayhew.

In the project room Steve
Firkins presents a new bold series of 'Curvism' wall sculptures.
His art and philosophy of Curvism creates a picture image and gives
voice to the conflict between the man-made and the natural, the material
and the spiritual.
Flanders Contemporary Art is located at 400 North First Avenue, first
floor in the Wyman Building. Gallery hours are 10 to 5 Tuesday through
Saturday, and by appointment. FFI: Contact Doug Flanders or Tasha Kubesh
