| Opening Reception Friday, April 19 from 6-9pm Main Gallery : Recent Works by Ed Lentsch Graphics Gallery: Prints by Shark's Ink Flanders Contemporary Art is very pleased to announce our new featured exhibits- Prints from Shark's Ink. and Recent Work by Ed Lentsch. Both shows open with a reception on Friday, April 19th from 6 to 9 p.m., and will run through June 1, 2002.
. The use of unusual media such as watercolor, oil pastel, metallic leaf, chine collé, and pochoir are commonplace at Shark's, as are multi-piece assemblages that can require hours of precise labor and delicate patience. Their serene location in the foothills of Yellowstone National Park inspires a cohesive working relationship between artist and printer that can only assist in yielding unique results.
Master Printer Bud Shark will be in attendance for the show opening. On Saturday April 20th at 2:00 p.m. Bud will lead an open discussion and take questions about Shark's artists, printmaking processes, and the life of a Master Printer.
In our Main gallery we are pleased to present Recent Work by Ed Lentsch. Ed Lentsch's rich use of textures and materials give his immense paintings a corroded wall-like appearance.
Lentsch's work suggests the artist as alchemist, breaking the barriers that our own nature imposes upon us. Many of his works incorporate calligraphic marks, some use objects like architectural trimmings and antique fragments. Dark and moody, the pieces present a mysteriously formidable ambience.
