Flanders Contemporary Art is pleased to announce our 3 new exhibits opening with a reception on Friday, September 14th from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will run through October 20th, 2001.

Jonathan Phillip's latest paintings are often hilarious, illuminating a marriage of words and images in oil painting, large scale pigment infused multi panel watercolors and richly toned digital prints. It is a free wheeling and free spirited body of work that takes on a wide range of subjects from the role of painting and art criticism in our society, to technology , religion, and men's fascination with tools.

Local artist David Paul Schmit is showing his progression from last year's exhibition of small collage work concerning societal discriminations to his new exploration of large canvas work.

Conceptual photographer, Misha Gordin is showing his latest series of prints titled The New Crowd. This group of work furthers the imagery of his dream world, as he conveys his intuitive vision of reality, translating his personal concepts into the language of photography.

Flanders Contemporary Art is located at 400 North First Avenue, first floor in the Wyman Building. Gallery hours are 10 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday, and by appointment.
